By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Western Queens from Cayo captured the National Basketball Tournament winning over the Stann Creek Lady Warriors 49-43 in the Women’s Final at the Belize City Civic Center on Sunday.
“A huge thank you to Mr Douglas Smith, Hode’s Place and Panda Online Dan Dan … it’s all possible because of community love. Same time, same place. Next Year!!!” posted Jasmin Armstrong, who is also the Belize Women’s National Football Team goalkeeper.
In fact, several of the teams featured interdisciplinary athletes. Armstrong’s Western Queens teammate Jursha Zuniga won the National Amateur Women’s League championship with Sagitun this year. So, for Zuniga this is her second national title in different sports this year.
