International News: Two Monkeypox patients, 1 in Mexico and 1 in Cuba dead

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Two persons who tested positive for Monkeypox have died, Reuters report.

Authorities say that the patients, 1 in Mexico and 1 in Cuba died but the fatalities have not been attributed to Monkeypox.

On Tuesday, health officials in Mexico said that they are investigating the death of an HIV-positive patient who tested positive for Monkeypox and died from septic shock and pneumonia.

There have been 386 confirmed cases of Monkeypox in Mexico.

In Cuba, a 50-year-old Italian man died on Sunday. He tested positive for Monkeypox on Saturday.

The tourist had arrived on August 15 and his condition rapidly deteriorated.

The post-mortem report said that the cause of death was sepsis linked to pneumonia and organ damage.

Health experts warn that people with underlying immune deficiencies could be at risk of more serious symptoms and death after contracting monkeypox.

The Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) has reported at least 21,200 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the Americas.
