By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Ministry of Labour, Local Government, and Rural Development is holding simultaneous trainings for Village Councils in northern and southern Belize, in an effort to orient new councils with their roles and help them run more efficiently.
This week, the trainings are being held in the Stann Creek and Orange Walk districts, with Rural Community Development Officers (RCDOs) delivering training on good governance practices, accountability, and transparency through four basic components. These components include composition responsibilities, meeting procedures, and financials.
“Over the last few months, our Rural Community Development Officers (RCDOs) have conducted swearing-in ceremonies for 194 newly elected villages and community councils across the country,” the Ministry said.
The RCDOs also instill in the councils to strive for accountability, transparency, and empowerment.
