Yohnny Rosado “comes clean” on “stolen” vehicle; wants his money back or he will support UDP

By Aaron Humes: In the context of “coming clean” on the matter of his “stolen” and confiscated Volkswagen Atlas, tour operator and businessman Yohnny Rosado is insistent he got a raw deal from the Government and he expects them to apologize and pay up.

The Atlas was brought into Belize by one Roberto Villanueva, with the “assistance” as he put it of Belize Rural North area representative Marconi Leal, who has said he, “Had no interest in that vehicle, (and) just asked customs to assist a friend with a little discount on the duty. That’s it.”

Only according to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, the vehicle turned out to be part of a stolen car ring, leaving a bitter Rosado out of 65 thousand dollars.

Rosado, of course, maintains that in his words, “I have nothing to do with stolen vehicles or with a ring of stolen vehicles, like our Supercop Chester Williams have been putting out there on the media and I do depend on a clean name to do a clean business in tourism and for me to be in business I need to have my name clear out of this mess.” He added that he is the “victim” of the affair, left with only the documentation showing he bought it legitimately here without knowing its provenance and that he did not deal with either Villanueva or Leal in the purchase of the vehicle.

Rosado went on to name names as to detailing how he contributed to the PUP coming to power, stating he had contributed cash as well as direct actions at the Port of Belize and on the Belcan Bridge on the first day of the 2016 teachers’ strike when tires were burned. Now-Information consultant for the Government Press Office Geovannie Brackett, among others, was accused of that crime but acquitted.

But now, he says, if he does not get his apology, then he will burn his ties, sue for his money, and go with the Opposition United Democratic Party: “Because if you upset with Leal, if you upset with Kareem Musa, if you upset with Chester, the only way you can get rid of them is by joining the opposition. I’m not here going for the UDP you know. I’m going to support the UDP to make sure they do a better job.”
