Renowned surgeon Dr. Jose Moguel, a victim of stomach cancer, laid to rest today

By Benjamin Flowers: Belize’s medical community joined with the family and friends of the late Dr. Jose Moguel, to pay their final respects on Friday.

Moguel, who died on Friday, August 22 from stomach cancer, was laid to rest after a memorial service at St. Joseph Church in Belize City.

His body was also taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) where he worked in various capacities from 1991 until his passing.

Moguel was celebrated as the former head of the surgery unit at the KHMH, a former president of the Belize Medical and Dental Association (BMDA), and a driving force behind increased medical cooperation between Belize and Mexico.

His death has been mourned by the KHMH, BMDA and the Ministry of Health and Wellness as a great loss to Belize.
