BREAKING: Freshly paved streets in Maya Mopan vandalized; Area Rep Oscar Mira asks “Why?”

By Breaking Belize News Staff: This evening, streets in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan that were freshly paved were found vandalized, and Belmopan Area Representative Oscar Mira wants to know why.

X’ahau and Bethel Street in Maya Mopan were closed off this morning for paving, and Mira said he would be providing an update in the evening, but when he got there, he found that the streets had large skid marks dug into the pavement.

“To the person that willfully tore up the brand new paved street, I have to ask why.
WHY! We are trying to HELP you. We are paving YOUR street. To become angry that the road is closed is childish. To then go around and skid and damage the freshly paved road due to anger.. I don’t know what to say,” Mira said.

He noted that the streets were being paved with the use of new technology that is more environmentally friendly than traditional pavement.
