BREAKING: Nurses walk out of Northern Regional Hospital

By Aaron Humes: Breaking Belize News (BBN) understands that the nursing complement of the Northern Regional Hospital (NRH) in Orange Walk Town, Orange Walk District, this morning walked out of the hospital, two days after their fellow did so in Dangriga at the Southern Regional Hospital.

Some of the nurses carried placards calling for better working conditions, more medical supplies, and medication, and to “be fair to those who care!”

As with their fellows in the South, there have been concerns over inadequate compensation for overtime work.

Further action is expected in order to get the attention of the Ministry of Health and Wellness regarding nurses’ working conditions.
