Posted: Monday, August 29, 2022. 9:41 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The last member of an indigenous tribe died in Brazil after resisting contact for decades, CNN reports.

On Saturday, Brazil’s indigenous protection agency reported that the “Man of the Hole” who had lived in complete isolation for the past 26 years on the Tanaru indigenous land in the Amazon died.

He was called the “Man of the Hole” for his habit of building deep holes to trap animals and hide in.

Authorities say they had been monitoring him from afar and left out supplies for him sometimes.

Authorities say that no one knows much about his tribe or his name.

His body was found in a hammock and there were no signs of violence.

Health authorities say he died of natural causes.
