By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man is out on bail after being charged with stealing $3,600 from a mortician.
Fifty-eight-year-old Lismore Williams, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with two counts of obtaining money by deception.
The complainant, Roy Lamb, told police that while he was in the United States back in July, he transferred $2,000 into Williams’s account. He further sent $1,600 to Williams through an associate for Williams to take the combined amount and pay it at the cargo section at the Philip Goldson International Airport. However, upon his return to Belize, he was informed that the payment was never made.
When he inquired about the money, he said Williams ignored his queries.
In court, the Magistrate explained to Williams that the prosecution has still not determined if the matter will be dealt with on summary charge or indictment, so he could not make a plea. Since there was no objection to bail, Williams was granted bail in the sum of $3,000.
He is due back in court on October 1.
