FIFA President Gianni Infantino meets Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde, asks government for more support for National Team

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: FIFA President Gianni Infantino met Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde and asked government for more support for the National Teams program.

“Hon. Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister, today met with Mr. Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, and a delegation from FIFA and the Football Federation of Belize” said the Government of Belize Press Office.

“A short meeting was held where they discussed the development of football in Belize, including consideration for a more solid plan in the government’s budget for the national team.”

The Press Office said Deputy Primer Minister Hyde recogmized that the FIFA President “has been focusing on smaller countries like Belize that lack resources for sports development”.

Hyde said he hoped the world football governing body works closer with Belize to contribute to the development of the sport.

Infantino is on a short visit to Belize after also visiting Costa Rica and Nicaragua and before heading to Guatemala.
