By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Over the next two days, Belizean cattle farmers in Northern Belize will export a total of 493 head of cattle from Kakabish, Orange Walk, to the Su Karne company in Mexico.
In total, that’s approximately 295,800 pounds of live weight.
Belarmino Esquivel, Principal Agriculture Officer and Livestock Director at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), said that this cattle export amounts to an economic input of approximately BZ$635,000.00 to the Belizean economy.
These new exports should bring the total head of cattle exported to Mexico to 5,669 for a value of BZ$7,302,000, according to Esquivel.
Belizean cattle farmers have been exporting through the Belize Livestock Producers Association to Mexican importing company Su Karne since 2021.
