By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Since the Belize Carnival Association has had to reroute the Official Carnival Road March route to cross from the Southside to the Northside over the BelChina Bridge instead of the Belcan Bridge, the route is going to be longer and will take the parade through different neighbourhoods.

The Belcan Bridge needs repairs, so the Belize Carnival Association had to use the only bridge that can accommodate the heaving trucks used during the Road March.

The Carnival Road March scheduled for tomorrow Saturday, September 3, will start as per usual at the corner of Neal Pen Road and Central American Boulevard but instead of continuing all the way on to the Belcan, the parade will turn onto Vernon Street. From there it turns left onto Youth for The Future Drive over BelChina Bridge to Douglas Jones Street. The Carnival Parade then crosses Cinderella Plaza onto Kelly Street, continuing up on Baymen Avenue turning onto Princess Margaret Drive to finish at Marion Jones Sports Complex.

The route change also frees up the traffic flow of vehicles coming into and leaving Belize City through the Northern entrance.
