Council Nikki Augustine is Belmopan City’s new Deputy Mayor

By Benjamin Flowers: Belmopan City has a new Deputy Mayor, Councilor Nikki Augustine.

Augustine, who is the council responsible for Tourism Promotion, Cultural Development, E-Governance, Small Business Development & Investment, and Incubation Center Facilitation, was elected at a meeting on August 31 and will officially take up the post for a six-month tenure on September 10.

She brings with her extensive background in Marketing and Communications, as a holder of a master’s degree in Marketing and Communications with a focus on Political Communications at the University of Albany, New York, and a Master’s in Project Management.

Councilor Augustine is the mind behind Belmopan’s popular Garden City Night Market as well as the recent TAG Teen Summit which gave youths a space to raise their concerns about issues affecting them. Notably, she is also a lead coordinator for the National MSME Roadshow that is currently taking place across the country to promote small business development.
