By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Manager for the Small Business Development Centre at BELTRAIDE, Monique Usher recently returned to Belize after participating in the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program —the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
The IVLP emphasizes the exchange of ideas among current and emerging leaders in a variety of fields from around the world – and offers participants the opportunity to cultivate lasting professional relationships with their counterparts.
Usher participated in a U.S. government-sponsored, 2-week program that outlined how governmental, non-governmental, and public-private partnerships can foster business creation and growth.
During her exchange, Monique networked with U.S. and other international business professionals in a series of meetings, site visits, panel discussions, and cultural events.
A core element of U.S. foreign policy reflects a longstanding commitment to supporting and expanding economic prosperity.
“Congratulations Monique, on the successful completion of this enriching exchange program! May your new knowledge and network contribute to incubating new public-private partnerships here in Belize, laying the paving stones for enhancing economic prosperity,” a statement from the U.S. Embassy said.
