Court rules that Maurice Usher Jr will stand trial for the murder of Jeffery Crawford

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Belize City Magistrate’s Court has ruled that Maurice Usher Jr will stand trial for the 2021 murder of Jeffery Crawford.

The court made its determination on Friday after the prosecution presented the evidence it has against Usher, which includes 33 witness statements; 11 different documents including a post-mortem examination on the deceased; notes of the interview done on Maurice Usher Jr., dated, October 1 and 12, 202; and two DVD’s; and 165 pictures, among other pieces of evidence.

At the end of the PI, the Senior Magistrate told Usher that he was committed to stand trial at the October session of the Supreme Court which is set to commence on October 3, 2022.

When given an alibi warning, Usher Jr.s said he intends to call his sister of Belize City on his behalf to testify to his whereabouts on the day in question.

Jeffery Crawford was murdered on September 29, 2021, at Miles 31 on the Philip Goldson Highway.
