By Benjamin Flowers: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has extended his thanks to the men and women of the Belize Police Department for their role in helping the events of Carnival Day 2022 to go smoothly.

Williams took to Facebook today, noting that it was the first Carnival in three years and police managed to ensure public safety before and during the event, despite the large crowd.

“Myself and my team of officers were committed to making sure all those who came out either as participants or spectators were safe. We put all our efforts into doing so because your safety is our business. In the end, we were grateful that our goal was achieved and for that, I want to say a big thank you to all the men and women of the Belize Police Department who worked tirelessly policing the carnival for a job well done,” Williams said.

Williams also extended his thanks to the citizenry for working with the police and making it easier for them to keep the peace.

While there were outbursts of violence and a shooting after the carnival, the enhanced police presence helped to preserve life and property in the city.
