By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Thirteen young children from Cayo District communities completed the Chiquibul Junior Ranger Summer Camp organized by Friends for Conservation and Development (FCD Belize).
The children hail from places like San Antonio, Cristo Rey, Georgeville, Seven Miles – El Progresso, Bullet Tree Falls, Benque Viejo del Carmen Town, and San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town.
FCD Belize said the children spent 7 days in the Chiquibul with the company of FCD staff and the encircling jungle at Las Cuevas Research Station.
“The Junior Rangers learned about the tropical forest ecosystem, importance of caring for the Chiquibul and skills required by a Ranger to operate in the forest,” said FCD Belize.
“The Chiquibul Junior Ranger Summer Camp is now concluded as a big success event thanks to the support provided by the Belize Roadworks Construction Company and the able leadership of our Environmental Educator, Justin Pook.”
FCD Belize said the Junior Rangers were joined by their parents on the last day when they earned their t-shirt, badge, cap and certificates.
FCD Belize congratulated the 13 new Chiquibul Jr. Rangers and thanked the parents for their support.
