Belize beat Turks and Caicos Islands 2-0; place 2nd in CONCACAF Men’s U17 Qualifiers Group D

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize defeated Turks and Caicos 2-0 to close their participation finishing second in Group D in CONCACAF Men’s U17 Qualifiers (CU17Q) on Sunday evening at the Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Managua, Nicaragua.

The U-17 Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) got two first half goals from Devin Garbutt (MidSouth Elite) & Amaad Augustine (Cayo Elite FC) and sealed the victory.

Nicaragua beat Antigua and Barbuda 3-0 and topped the group with nine points advancing to the CONCACAF Men’s U17 Championship (CU17C).

Belize tied 1-1 in Antigua and Barbuda in the opener on Wednesday but fell 0-3 to Nicaragua on Friday.

Belize totalled four points like Antigua and Barbuda but took second place on goal differential. Our young men scored three and allowed four while Antigua and Barbuda scored two and netted four.

Turks and Caicos Islands finished last without a point.

Only the group winner advanced to the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship (CU17C) where they will join the top 16 ranked nations that qualified directly into the group stage of the Championship.

The Dominican Republic already qualified from Group C. The other two groups playing at the IMG Academy and Bradenton, Florida, close later this week. So far, Bermuda are leading Group A and Aruba are at the top of Group B.
