Belize City man recovering after weekend shooting near Armadillo Street

By Benjamin Flowers: A Belize City man is recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after being shot over the weekend.

Thirty-six-year-old Giovanni Williams was riding his bicycle on Armadillo Street when someone behind a zinc fence opened fire on him and hit him to the body.

Sr. Superintendent Hilberto Romero, Deputy Commander of National Crimes Investigation Branch, said that Williams is listed in stable condition and cooperating with police.

Romero acknowledged that the incident took place near a police station and said that police had patrols in the area, given the frequency of crimes reported there.

There are no known suspects at this time.
