By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize City’s Port Layola travelled to Belmopan and edged the Belmopan Bandits 1-0 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium on Saturday night.

A lone goal from Mathias Barriga gave the Belize City side the three points.

Port Loyola are still in sixth position but moved up to seven points, two behind Progresso and three behind Wagiya and San Pedro Pirates.

The Bandits are still struggling at the bottom of the standings with only one point, but club management said they are 100 percent behind the team which is in a rebuilding process.

“We wanna assure our young and promising team that we will stand strong with them through the rebuilding process,” said Bandits Sports in a social media post.

“Failure is part of the process. Let’s learn from our mistakes and continue the journey! We with our boys 100%!!”
