By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident, 23-year-old Selvin Waight is back at the Belize Central Prison after being out for only a day.
Waight was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing two counts of robbery, after just being released from prison, having served 90 days on remand.
The charges against him date back to May 13, when he allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint, taking $280 in cash. He was also charged with robbing Moon Clusters, a popular coffee shop on Daly Street, Belize City, stealing $1,400 in cash.
In court, Waight contended that he was in jail when those robberies were committed. As the offenses were allegedly committed with a firearm, he could not be granted bail at the Magistrate level, and must wait another 90 days before bail can be sought at the Supreme Court.
