Posted: Tuesday, September 6, 2022. 5:13 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Police Department continues to remove serious weaponry from the streets in Northern and Western Belize.

In separate finds in the Cayo District on Tuesday, police in Western Belize recovered an AK-47 that was thrown from a vehicle that passed the checkpoint at St. Matthew’s village, as well as a 9-millimeter Glock pistol.

Also on Tuesday, Police in Corozal District discovered thirty 5.56 live rounds of ammunition in a cane field.

The 5.56 ammunition is capable to be used in the M16 rifle, M4 Carbine, and the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, whilst the M16 is listed as one of the most powerful combat weapons.

No one has been charged in connection with any of the finds.
