Teenage sisters from the Cayo District ran away from home

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Police Department is asking the public’s assistance in locating two sisters from Cayo district that reportedly ran away from home.

Police say that 13-year-old Wendy Avelar and 15-year-old Gissel Avelar, both of St. Matthews Village, were last seen, at home, at about 2:00 a.m. today.

Both girls are described as being of clear complexion. Gessil is described as having straight brown shoulder-length hair, being medium build, and standing 5′ 5″ tall. Wendy is described as having long, straight black hair, also medium built, and standing 5′ 5″ tall. Police did not have a description of their clothing at the last time they were seen.

Anyone with knowledge of their whereabouts is urged to call 911 or 922.
