By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man accused of assaulting his wife and threatening to have her killed was released without sanction after his wife dropped the charges.
Fifty-three-year-old Linsford Kenzie appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, charged with one count each of assault and threatening words.
Kenzie initially pleaded guilty, but then told the court that his wife was outside and wanted to drop the charges. In court, the woman said that she wanted no further court action and asked that the charges be dropped as she was preparing to file for legal separation.
With her request, the prosecution dropped the charges, and Kenzie was free to go after paying $200 from an unpaid fine.
The incident, which ended in Kenzie sending death threats, reportedly happened on September 3.
