By Benjamin Flowers: The family of Karla Belisle, a woman who has dedicated 35 years in service to Belize as an educator, is asking the public’s assistance to help cover her medical expenses, following a stroke.
Belisle’s daughter, Sharima Archer, made the appeal over social media, explaining that her mother suffered the stroke on August 14 while in the USA.
Archer said that the stroke severely affected the left side of Belisle’s brain, which is responsible for her speech, cognitive ability, memory, and movement on the right side. Belisle’s recovery has shown promising signs, but her family is making the appeal for assistance because she still has a long way to go.
“As the doctors have cautioned while she is making good progress, the recovery process will be more of a marathon than a sprint. At this moment, my family remains hopeful, prayerful and mindful of the long-term prognosis as her health care professionals continue to monitor the bleeding and swelling of the brain,” Archer said.
Anyone who would like to assist with a donation can do so at Atlantic Bank account # 211340716 Sharima N. Archer.
Breaking Belize News wishes Belisle and her family all the best in her recovery.
