Hurricane Watch in effect for Bermuda as Category 2 Earl approaches

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A Hurricane watch is now in effect for Bermuda as Hurricane Earl approaches.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) say that tropical storm conditions are expected to begin to affect Bermuda later today.

Earl is now a category 2 Hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts.

Earl is predicted to strengthen to a powerful Category 4 Hurricane today.

 The hurricane is forecast to become a post-tropical low by Saturday night.

Earl is expected to produce rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches (25 to 75 mm) across Bermuda through Friday.
