National Women’s Commission becomes statutory body

By Aaron Humes: Cabinet has approved the establishment of the National Women’s Commission (NWC) as a statutory body of the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs.

The NWC will be empowered to legally address gender issues and to coordinate all national efforts relating to gender equality, equity and women’s empowerment.

The Commission features participation from representatives of women’s organizations and bodies countrywide.
