By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Ladyville man who police say they caught trying to hide crack cocaine in his mouth ended up in more trouble when it was discovered that he had not been showing up to court for a previous charge.
Twenty-one-year-old Joshua Jones appeared in court this week, answering to a single charge of possession of controlled drugs.
Allegations against him are that on Tuesday, September 6, police were conducting a search on him and found that he had two transparent plastic bags in his mouth that contained an undetermined amount of crack.
In court, he immediately pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $200 plus $5 cost of court. He has until October 28 to pay the fine or he will spend two months in jail for default.
That should have been the end of his matters before the court; however, the prosecution raised the issue that there was a bench warrant out for Jones’s arrest because he had not shown up to court in six months to answer to a charge of handling stolen goods.
The court determined that he was in violation of his bail for that offense, and revoked the bail, remanding him to the Belize Central Prison until November 11.
