Cayo teenager still on the run; Her younger sister believed to be with her

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 15-year-old girl from St. Matthew’s Village, Cayo District, who was reported missing five days ago is still at large.

Police say that 15-year-old Gissel Avelar was last seen at her home around 2:00 a.m. on September 5. Her sister, 13-year-old Wendy Avelar, went missing at the same time.

Gissel Avelar is described as being of clear complexion with straight, brown shoulder-length hair, being medium build, and standing 5′ 5″ tall.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to call 911, 922, or the nearest police station.
