Queen’s coffin arrives at the Palace of Holyroodhouse

Posted: Sunday, September 11, 2022. 2:09 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the coffin of the late Queen Elizabeth II arrived at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, ahead of the procession planned for tomorrow, The Royal Family announced earlier.

The coffin will remain in the Throne Room until tomorrow afternoon when there will be a procession which will be formed on the forecourt of the Palace of Holyroodhouse to convey the Coffin to St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh.

H.M. King Charles III and members of the Royal Family are set to take part in the Procession and attend a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral to receive the Coffin.

The coffin will then lie at rest in St Giles’ Cathedral, guarded by Vigils from The Royal Company of Archers, to allow the people of Scotland to pay their respects.

Photos of the coffin’s arrival can be viewed on the Royal Family’s official Twitter page.

The Queen, the longest sitting monarch, died on Thursday at Balmoral Castle, Scotland only hours after doctors expressed concern for her ailing health.

On Friday, a quiet procession was held in front of Buckingham Palace, where mourners came to show their support for the royal family, placing wreaths, flowers, and messages of support and encouragement during their bereavement.
