By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 23-year-old man from Gardenia Village is out on bail after being accused of chopping his friend with a machete.

Shyiem James Casimiro appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with aggravated assault with a deadly instrument.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and was offered bail in the sum of $1,500 plus one surety of the same.

Allegations are that on September 8, Casimiro was socializing at the home of the victim Lennox Gentle, when he attacked Gentle with a machete and chopped him to his right arm, left shoulder, both hands, and feet, and under the kneecap.

During the act of the chopping, Gentle said he managed to run onto the highway where he reached Mile 23 Gas Station and yelled for help and the police came to his aid. Gentle was transported to the KHMH where he sought medical attention.
