By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Health officials in the U.S. are investigating a second possible death from Monkeypox in Los Angeles, Yahoo reports.
Chief Medical Director Rita Singhal of the Public Health Department said details were unavailable as the investigation continues.
“This is one of two deaths in the United States that are under investigation to determine whether monkeypox was a contributing cause,” Singhal said.
Last month, Texan authorities reported that a person who had Monkeypox died. The patient was described in a statement as “severely immunocompromised.”
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted that there are now 21, 893 cases of Monkeypox in the U.S.
Health experts say that people who have HIV and Monkeypox are at a higher risk of being hospitalized.
