By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s 2021 Women’s Football Champions Jewel Fury started on a bad foot losing 1-11 to Costa Rica’s Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in Group A of the Central American Union’s (UNCAF) Interclubs Championship in Costa Rica.
The addition of four Mexican and two United States players did not seem to have helped Jewel Fury much.
In the other Group A match, Guatemala’s Suchitepéquez drew with El Salvador’s FAS 1-1.
In Group B, defending champions Saprissa in Group B routed Honduras’ Olimpia 5-1 while Panama’s Tauro FC and Nicaragua’s Somotillo drew 1-1.
Jewel Fury’s next game will put them against Suchitepéquez at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13, at the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense High Performance Facility (CAR LDA).
Their final Group game will be against C.D. FAS at 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 15 at the Morera Soto.
The playoffs for seventh place, fifth place, third place and the championship will be played on Saturday, September 17.
