Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, issues statement celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth II

By Benjamin Flowers: As members of the Royal Family continue to process their grief over the loss of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has issued a statement celebrating the life of his lost grandmother.

The Prince described the Queen as a guiding compass to many, stressing that she was admired and respected globally for the dignity and grace she maintained throughout her life, which now forms her legacy.

In his ode to the longest sitting monarch, the Prince also quoted her own words following the passing of her husband Prince Phillip, noting that life consists of final partings as well as first meetings.

“Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings—from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great grandchildren,” the Prince said.

He went on to thank her for her service as Queen and assured that he would honor his father in his new role as King Charles III.

The Prince closed his statement by saying ” We, too, smile knowing that you and grandpa are reunited now, and both together in peace”

The queen died on Thursday, September 8 at the age of 96. She had been the Monarch of the United Kingdom for 70 years.

The royal arrived at the Palace of Holyroodhouse yesterday in preparation for a procession planned for this afternoon.
