By Hugh O’Brien: Belize’s U-19 men’s volleyball team is currently in second place with 7 points after winning their first two games in the XIV Central American Under-19 Men’s Volleyball Championship. Costa Rica holds the lead with 10 points earned after beating Nicaragua and Guatemala, both in 3 sets.

On Sunday, Belize won over Guatemala in 5 sets and on Monday night the local boys defeated El Salvador in 4 sets.

Having beaten both Guatemala and El Salvador, Belize is in a very good position to emerge either first or second in the competition. Standing in our way for the top spot is a formidable and undefeated Costa Rican team, boasting 10 points after 2 games.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) joins sports and volleyball enthusiasts in rallying behind our local boys. A win in 3 sets against Nicaragua tonight would propel Belize to 12 points, while a win in 5 sets would take us to 10 points.

The XIV Men’s Under-19 Central American Championship games are being held at the Santa Rosa de Copan Municipal Gymnasium in Honduras.
