By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 20-year-old Ladyville resident who was the recent victim of a chopping attack was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today to face charges related to a shooting.
Lennox Gentle appeared unrepresented to answer to a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, upon Elward McKay.
He pleaded not guilty but due to the nature of the offense he was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until November.
The incident he is accused of occurred on August 27. The victim told police he was walking with his girlfriend at the corner of Poinsettia Street and the Philip Goldson Highway in Ladyville when he came under fire and had to run for his life, taking cover at the Ladyville police station.
Gentle, the main suspect was to be arraigned yesterday but could not make it to court because he was still receiving treatment for chop wounds allegedly inflicted by Shyiem James Casimiro. In that chopping incident, Casimiro was charged and is currently out on bail.
