Salvadoran man wanted for the rape of a child, hid in Belize for five years; will be deported to face charges

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Salvadoran man who was wanted in his home country for the rape of a child will be sent back to face his charges.

Police found 26-year-old Yovany Martinez in Belize back in March of this year and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison for six months. He had been living in Belize for five years, evading authorities and the courts in El Salvador.

Martinez was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today where the Department of Immigration and Nationality was granted a removal order against him for being a prohibited immigrant.

Martinez is expected to be sent back home by the end of this week where authorities in El Salvador will be awaiting his arrival.
