By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, Councilor Natasha Pipersburgh of the Belize City Council visited the Standard 1 class of St. Martin’s De Porres School to engage students in patriotic activities.

The activities were to highlight historic events such as the 224th anniversary of the Battle of St. George’s Caye and Belize’s 41st independence.

Councilor Pipersburgh’s visit ended with a patriotic march and the distribution of treats adorned in red, white, and blue.

“Gratitude is extended to Councilor Pipersburgh for this initiative which promotes patriotism and a sense of identity as enshrined in Article 7 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child,” the Belize City Council noted.

The September Celebrations festivities continue on September 15 with the Charlie Burton fundraiser (Swap meet) at Charlie Burton Park on Gibnut Street in Belize City.
