Belize falls again in regional volleyball championship – loses to Costa Rica who will be crowned champions

By Hugh O’Brien: After an undefeated 2-0 record for Belize, Nicaragua came from behind on Tuesday evening to beat Belize’s U-19 volleyball team 3 sets to 2. Belize fell again on Wednesday night, this time to Central America’s volleyball powershouse, Costa Rica.

Costa Rica tested the resilience of the Belize team when they took the first set 25-11. Costa Rica then went on to take the next 2 sets, winning Belize 3-0 (25-11, 28-26, 25-22). Belize now has a 2-2 record with 9 points.

With this victory over Belize, Costa Rica now has a record of 4 wins, all in 3 sets, no losses and has earned 20 points.

With one day of competition remaining, officials are preparing to crown Costa Rica as the Trichampion Central American Under-19 of #Afecavol.

On Thursday, Belize will face Honduras and Costa Rica goes up against El Salvador in search of being crowned undefeated champions in the XIV Men’s Under-19 Central American Championship.
