Forty-five-year-old man remanded to prison for the rape of 13-year-old girl

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 45-year-old man from Belize City has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

Ervin Middleton appeared before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, answering to a single charge of rape of a child.

The offense is indictable so no plea was taken, and bail could not be granted at the magistrate level so he was remanded until November 14.

Allegations against him are that sometime in the month of September 2020, he forced the girl to have sexual intercourse with him.

The girl gave a report to police in the presence of a guardian on July 21, 2022, and a medical examination showed that she had been carnally known.

Police formally arrested and charged Middleton on Wednesday, September 14.
