By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Santa Cruz Women’s Cooperative from Orange Walk received a stove, freezer, covered structure and seedlings.
Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, Jose Mai and CEO Servulo Baeza attended the handing over.
Also present was UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Ian King, Registrar of Co-operatives Gareth Murillo and BEST Acting Managing Director Michelle Longsworth.
The equipment is part of a project funded by the UNDP and organized by BEST and the Co-operatives Department under the Ministry.
The equipment and seedlings are worth in excess of $15,000.00 and will assist the co-op in creating additional income opportunities and self-sustaining agricultural practices, the ministry noted.
