Posted: Saturday, September 17, 2022. 11:43 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Police Department (BPD) is sharing safety tips for Belizeans as we celebrate the 41st Anniversary of Belize’s Independence.

The Department says that while the police will protect and serve, the community has a responsibility to do its part.

“As we move into yet another busy weekend across the country, the Belize Police Department urges the citizenry of this nation to strive for peace and safety. For those who are planning to go to the Expo, the old Skool dance at Bird’s Isle, or the Pan Yaad Concert, we ask that you remain observant and vigilant of your surroundings,” the BPD said.

“Those selling alcoholic beverages are reminded that the sale of alcohol to minors is an offense and anyone found selling or giving alcohol to minors will be prosecuted,” it added.

The BPD is seeking the support and cooperation of the public to make the events incident free.

“Finally, remember that if you are drinking, don’t drive, and if you are driving, don’t drink. I ask that you drive with due consideration for your safety and that of other road users,” the BPD reminded.

The BPD wishes everyone a blessed and safe weekend.
