Jewel Fury beat Honduran club Olimpia 2-1 in Central American Women’s Interclub Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Jewel Fury persevered and closed their participation in the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) FIFA FORWARD Women’s Interclub Championship in Costa Rica with a 2-1 win over Honduran club Olimpia avoiding finishing last.

After falling 6-1 to El Salvador’s FAS on Thursday, Fury had to face the Honduran side to fight for the seventh spot and the Belmopan prevailed on goals by Khalydia Velasquez in 3rd minute and Sharon Almanza in the 29th minute.
Truimali Ramirez scored for Olimpia in the 15th minute.

Despite Jewel Fury’s 11-1 loss to eventual champions Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, Olimpia recorded the biggest loss falling 11-0 to Panama’s Tauro FC. In another blowout score, Alajuelense also thrashed Guatemala’s Suchitepéquez 10-1.

Alajuelense won the championship over previous champions Saprissa with a 1-0 win.
FAS won third place 4-2 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw.

Suchitepequez finished fifth after edging Nicaragua’s Somotillo 3-1 in penalty kicks after a 4-4 draw.
