San Pedro get past Wagiya 2-0, slide up to 3rd spot in PLB

By Ruben Morales Iglesias: In a weekend when none of the home teams could record a win, the San Pedro Pirates downed Wagiya 2-0 at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga at the beginning of the second round of the Premier League of Belize’s (PLB) Opening Championship.

The win allowed the Pirates to skip over Wagiya to third place with 14 points, four shy of leaders Verdes and Altitude.

Mario Chimal hit the opener in the 21′ and Erick Izquierdo secured the win for the islanders in the 67′.

Wagiya remain with 11 points but dropped from third to fourth place in the PLB.
