Belize Defense Force soldier charged for gang affiliation

By Benjamin Flowers: A member of Belize’s security forces has been charged for being affiliated with a criminal gang.

Police say that on Monday, September 20, officers formally arrested and charged 26-year-old Filadelfo Barrientos for “being a member of a gang.”

He is accused of being a member of the Crips Gang.

Being a member of a gang, or conducting activities for the furtherance of gang activity is prohibited under the Crime Control and Criminal Justice Act, Chapter 102 of the Laws of Belize.
