Holy Redeemer Credit Union Limited would-be burglars not “sophisticated” enough to defy Police

Posted: Tuesday, September 20, 2022. 6:16 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Hold-ups and break-ins at financial institutions are happily becoming rarer these days, but are criminals becoming more sophisticated with how they attack their targets?

Burglars twice breached the east wall of the Holy Redeemer Credit Union Limited main building on Hydes Lane during their attempted break-in and actually made it in – but apparently left with no loot.

While the criminal foray was not successful by usual standards, Assistant Superintendent of Police Fitzroy Yearwood suggested the criminals may still be sufficiently proud of themselves to run their mouths about their enterprise, and leave themselves open to being caught: “From the hole in the wall, we would want to say that these criminals are either educating themselves by watching all these CSI [Crime Scene Investigation]-type programs and so forth, or they just watch a lot of Netflix movies. But I am certain that our detectives are prepared for these kinds of [crimes], and we will find out something sooner rather than later…”

It has not been indicated if the burglars left behind their tools.
