Forecasters are monitoring Hurricane Fiona, Tropical Storm Gaston and 3 other tropical disturbances in the Atlantic 

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A hurricane watch has been issued for Bermuda as powerful category 4 Hurricane Fiona approaches.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) say that Tropical Storm Gaston is gaining strength. As of this morning, Gaston was located about 850 miles west of the Azores.

The NHC is also monitoring 3 more tropical disturbances in the Atlantic including a tropical wave located a couple hundred miles east of the Windward Islands. 

This tropical wave has a 90% chance of formation through the next 5 days.  The system continues to show signs of organization, and it will likely become a tropical depression within the next couple of days.

This system is forecast to move west-northwestward across the southern Windward Islands today and then move toward the central Caribbean Sea later this week.

Regardless of development, heavy rainfall is forecast to affect northwestern Venezuela, northeastern Colombia, and the ABC island chain later this week.  

Another tropical wave  is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa on Thursday. Thereafter, environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for some development, and a tropical depression could form this weekend while the system moves slowly northward, between west Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands. 

A third tropical wave located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing showers and thunderstorms.

 Despite a dry environment, slow development of this system is possible over the next several days as it moves northwestward and then westward over the tropical Atlantic.
