Mayor Sharon Palacio: “September 21st is a day of introspection and action”

By Aaron Humes: Belmopan Mayor Sharon Palacio is leading off this morning’s ceremony with the usual welcome from the Garden City on this special occasion.

The Mayor said her city is Belize’s fastest-growing, in motion, a bastion of multiculturalism, and fulfilling the dream of Right Honorable George Price at its formation 50-plus years ago.

But there is still much work to be done and Belizeans at home and abroad, she urged, need to network with their municipalities for development. There must be a place for women in that charge, she added, and on this day of “introspection and action”, we must be ready to act on issues from land to housing to education.

Mayor Palacio also mentioned that next month, the New Capital will host regional city mayors for a discussion on a treaty for fossil fuel non-proliferation.
