Prime Minister John Briceño: Despite challenges, Belize soldiers on

Posted: Wednesday, September 21, 2022. 10:21 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Looking in the mirror at 41, Belize sees a nation that can be self-sufficient and in control of our national destiny, said Prime Minister John Briceño.

The national debt has been slashed and jobs are returning; fields and orchards are productive; reforms are being instituted, starting with the People’s Constitutional Commission, and the assault on poverty continues unrelentingly.

The Prime Minister announced that in January, the $5 minimum wage will be implemented.

The housing plan continues apace with new dwellings being handed over weekly.

The free education program started at three Southside schools is on pace to be implemented countrywide.

Millions of investments are being introduced.

The micro, small and medium enterprise sector is being assisted through the current national roadshow and financial services to foster competitiveness, and Government will favor them with 25 percent of its procurement services by 2025.
