By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Belize City men who were accused of being in a group of four that beat up an off-duty police officer are out on bail.
The men, 25-year-old Keidel Lino and 26-year-old Arjay Young appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, each charged with a single count of wounding.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail in the sum of $1,500 each plus one surety of the same for each.
PC Juan Thomas Choc said that on Saturday, September 17, he was walking on the corner of Euphrates Avenue and Cemetery Road, when two men approached him and began using threatening words. Choc said he ignored them and continued walking. Despite not paying any attention to them, he was attacked, pushed to the ground, and beaten.
He went on to say that he was able to positively identify the two accused among those that assaulted him.
